Signed up for a free course before, then quit three lessons in? You do not need money to start learning AI, and you do not need another subscription gathering dust either. The Philippine government and a handful of global tech companies fund real, structured courses at zero cost, and several are free online courses with a certificate at the end. Here's what's live right now.
TESDA (e-TESDA). The government's online learning platform hosts a Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals prep course under its ICT category, a useful free introduction to Azure AI concepts, though note it is AI-900 branded and that exam was retired on 30 June 2026 in favour of AI-901. TESDA also offers HP LIFE AI courses, developed with UNESCO-UNEVOC and the HP Foundation, covering AI basics, responsible AI use, and business applications. Both run fully online, on-demand, at no cost.
DICT (digitaljobsPH). The Department of Information and Communications Technology runs a free-course initiative through Coursebank with 36 online courses, including AI and cloud computing topics, aimed at freelancers and general jobseekers.
Google (Grow with Google Philippines). AI Essentials, a roughly 10-hour self-paced program, runs through a free trial period on Coursera before subscription pricing kicks in. Finish within the trial window and you pay nothing.
DepEd NEAP. Teachers and school leaders get their own free track: "Tsek ang Tech," an AI professional development series launched through DepEd's National Educators Academy, delivered via Facebook Live and the training.deped.gov.ph portal.
Some do. e-TESDA courses generally issue a certificate of completion through the government platform, and HP LIFE courses issue their own completion certificates. Google's AI Essentials certificate depends on finishing within the Coursera trial window or paying the subscription. Confirm the certificate terms on each official page before you enroll, since platforms change them. Free usually means self-paced and unproctored, so treat these certificates as proof of effort, not a job-ready credential on their own. Use them to build real skill and confidence, then decide if a paid certification exam is worth it once you know the material.
