AI Seminars for Teachers: Free Series and INSET-Relevant Training

Lesson plans and grading already eat your evenings and weekends. Add DepEd paperwork on top, and one more seminar for teachers probably feels like one more thing on the pile. Here's the part that helps: students already use AI tools for homework, but most in-service training for teachers hasn't caught up. DepEd is starting to close that gap, and this hub tracks the AI seminars and trainings worth your time.

DepEd NEAP's "Tsek ang Tech" is the biggest development here. Launched by DepEd's National Educators Academy of the Philippines, it's a free AI professional development series built for teachers and school leaders, delivered through Facebook Live and the training.deped.gov.ph portal. Because it's a DepEd-run series, sessions typically count toward in-service training (INSET) requirements, though you should confirm credit with your school's INSET coordinator before assuming it applies automatically.

Beyond DepEd's Own Series

Tech communities also run teacher-relevant sessions. GDG (Google Developer Groups) Manila, Cebu, and Davao hold recurring AI events open to educators, including hands-on "Build with AI" sessions that go deeper into practical tool use than a policy briefing would. These skew more technical, so they suit teachers who already feel comfortable with basic AI concepts and want to build something, like a lesson-planning assistant or a grading rubric generator.

For teachers who want a self-paced primer first, Google's AI Essentials course, run through Grow with Google Philippines, gives a foundation in about 10 hours before you walk into a live seminar.

What to Ask Before You Attend

Confirm whether a session counts for INSET hours, since not everything AI-related automatically qualifies. Ask whether the seminar targets classroom application or school-level policy, since DepEd's series covers both audiences at different sessions. And watch for regional rollouts. School-year 2026 series content is still expanding, so check your division's advisory for local dates.
