What exists instead is a mix of global certifications that PH employers recognize, professional development through PMAP, and, increasingly, AI skills that hiring managers now ask about in the same breath as the certification itself. Global certifications, taken from the Philippines

The credentials that carry the most weight with multinationals and larger BPOs are international ones, all accessible from the Philippines through online or test-center exams:

• SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management): SHRM-CP for operational HR professionals and SHRM-SCP for senior or strategic roles.
• HRCI (HR Certification Institute): aPHR for those starting out, PHR for HR practitioners, SPHR for senior leaders. HRCI also offers international variants (PHRi, SPHRi) built for professionals outside the US.
• CIPD (UK-based) appears less often in PH job posts but matters if you work with UK or EU-headquartered employers.

The local layer: PMAP

PMAP, the People Management Association of the Philippines, is the country's professional association for HR and people management.
